Our Earth Explorers program helps children develop a deep connection to nature and consequently a deep connection to Allah. Our Earth Explorers develop a knowledge of the natural world along with outdoor survival and crafting skills. There is an emphasis on caring and stewardship of the earth through hands-on immersion. When children can touch and interact fully with nature, they develop a love for it and a desire to protect it for the future. Our program takes place in a beautiful outdoor setting with forest, hills, rivers and valleys. Through time spent engaging with nature in a variety of terrains and weather conditions, children build resilience, confidence, foresight and wisdom to face life's challenges. Led by their own curiosity, questioning and exploration, learning is natural and FUN!

Our programs maintain a 1:5 adult to child ratio.

In the fall session, our Earth Explorers will advance in a mix of the following activities, with an Islamic perspective:

Outdoor Survival Skills: Fire making, navigation, outdoor cooking, foraging wild edibles, natural dyes, shelter building

Bushcraft Projects: Knife/saw/axe skills, knots & lashing, woodcraft

Fall Science

Nature Journaling and Nature Art

Literacy in Nature: Storytelling, songs, poetry, drama

Reflection: Mindful sit spots, outdoor salah, Quranic reflections, gratitude circles

Games: Team-building games, agility games, rope games, senses games, obstacle courses, survival challenges

Free play: in the forest and creek

The Earth Explorers program is held completely outdoors. There is a covered picnic shelter, outhouse and running water on site. This is a drop off program but parents are welcome to explore the area on their own.
